Guilford-Jamestown Veterinary Hospital

Our staff is here to serve all your pets’ needs. We select our staff for their love of animals as well as their professionalism. You can be assured that your pets are in the hands of professionals who sincerely care. It is our commitment to you and to your pets to exceed your expectations on every visit.

Boarding

Guilford-Jamestown Veterinary Hospital offers a complete boarding facility for your dogs, cats, ferrets, and pocket pets. All pets enjoy their own individual accommodations which are cleaned throughout the day. Food, water, bedding, and frequent outdoor exercise for dogs in our fenced runs are included when you board your pets with us.

Reservations are required, as well as current vaccinations appropriate for each species. We provide indoor runs for larger dogs, and comfortable cages for smaller dogs and cats, all of which are air conditioned and heated. Cats are housed in a separate room from dogs, and patients with special medical requirements may be boarded in our treatment area for close doctor supervision.

We will be glad to feed your pets their own diet and treats, and to medicate your animal during their stay. Our doctors check on the boarders every day, including weekends.

Also, please consider booking your pet's reservation well in advance for holiday boarding, as spaces fill up quickly.

Client's Grooming

Guilford-Jamestown Veterinary Hospital has an experienced full-time groomer for our clients’ pets. Ashley Kirkman has been working with animals her entire life and has been a professional groomer for more than 5 years. She began working with her grandmother who bred Rough Coated Collies and helped her father take care of their Quarter Horses. Because of this Ashley has always taken into consideration that pets are “just like family”.

Ashley recently featured several of her grooms in the Poodle Parade at Bicentennial Gardens, and in the Rhinoceros Times. We welcome Ashley in to our practice, who offers caring and devoted services to our clients. To make an appointment please call her at 336-965-7207.

If it is not time for a full groom, you may have your pets bathed by our experienced staff.

Included in the price of the bath is a thorough washing and brushing, nail trim, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression. Baths are available for non-boarders by appointment Monday through Friday.

All pets must be current on vaccinations at the time of their bath or groom appointment.

Pet’s Pharmacy

For your convenience, our onsite pharmacy stocks a carefully selected supply of prescription medications as well as over the counter products including those for flea and tick control and for heartworm prevention.

We also carry the Pet Industry’s leading and safest products in the dental care, shampoo and ear cleaner lines. We select only safe, proven pet care products.

Not only do you have access to the finest quality products, but our staff is fully trained in their correct use and administration. We’re always happy to show you the best way to treat your pets with these 100% guaranteed products.

Whatever medical condition your pets may have, we have the pharmacy for all their needs.

Surgery

Since there is no such thing as a routine surgery, in order to provide your pets with the most attentive and professional care, our facility includes state-of-the-art monitoring devices and instruments including an Electrocardiogram machine, a pulse oxygen/blood pressure monitor.

Our surgical unit is also equipped with a laser surgery unit which reduces bleeding, swelling, and pain post-op. We offer pre-operative blood profiling to prevent unnecessary complications due to unknown internal issues. Our post-operative recovery care includes the use of a warm air blanket and specially trained staff members by your pet’s side.

Dental

Dental care is an important part of your pet’s preventive care. Our trained professionals perform dental cleanings which includes scaling, polishing and fluoride treatment while your pet is under general anesthesia. Tooth extraction may also be performed as deemed necessary by our doctors.

We also offer OraVet, an oral healthcare product that is clinically proven to reduce plaque and tartar by creating a barrier on the teeth to which bacteria cannot attach. OraVet Barrier Sealant is applied during the dental procedure and takes just 60 seconds to apply once a week.

Laboratory

Our in-house laboratory consists of the latest developments in diagnostic equipment. Using our Idexx analyzers we can perform pre-anesthetic and wellness testing as well as diagnosing and assessing our ill patients.

Our equipment allows us to obtain results for chemistry panels, complete blood counts, urinalyses, ear cytologies, canine and feline heartworm testing, and many other laboratory tests. In addition, we also utilize various off-site laboratories for more advanced diagnostics.

Special Diets

Our hospital is aware of the growing nutritional trends for your pets. Therefore, we keep a complete stock of many prescription diets for your pets’ medical needs.

Some less common diets are available by special order only. To better serve you and your pet, please let us know when we need to order your pet more food.

Radiology

Guilford-Jamestown Veterinary Hospital is equipped with the leading Digital Imaging System available in the Veterinary Industry today. Enhanced client communication is achieved with images that are accessible to the client, including the options of emailing the image or downloading it to a disc for home viewing.

All radiographs taken at Guilford-Jamestown Veterinary Hospital are evaluated by a Board Certified Radiologist.

Appointments

In order to serve you and your pets efficiently, we ask that you please call and schedule an appointment for your pet’s medical care. Please arrive about 10 minutes early to allow time to complete necessary paperwork. If it will be your first visit to our hospital it would be most helpful if you could bring any previous veterinary records for your pet.

You are also welcome to leave your pet with us for the day to be examined by the doctors. Either a doctor or staff member will contact you to discuss your pet’s care. A consultation time with the doctor may be scheduled in the afternoon if necessary. Walk-ins are welcome.

Emergencies

Should your pet have a medical emergency during our regular hours, please give us a quick call before you come in, if at all possible, so that we may prepare to treat your animal as quickly as possible. Emergencies are handled on a priority basis.

For emergencies that occur when we are closed, we recommend the Animal Emergency and Trauma Center located in the Carolina Veterinary Specialists Hospital that is one block from our hospital. They can be reached at 336-632-0605 evenings, weekends and holidays. You can also use the After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic on West Friendly Avenue. They can be reached at 336-851-1990.
